Watch: Six Word Story 2019 finalists showcase

20 February 2020 //  by First Story

In December, we piloted an exciting new platform to showcase and celebrate the shortlisted young writers in our annual Six Word Story competition.

For the first time, 12 finalists saw their stories performed by established writers, as video selfies, which we published over 12 days through our digital campaign #12Stories.

The 12 readers who generously offered their time and support were: Juno Dawson, Nikesh Shukla, Caroline Bird, Priya O’Shea, Salena Godden, Joe Dunthorne, Bridget Minamore, Tom Holland, Tracy Chevalier, Damian Barr, Katie Thistleton, and Max Porter.

For anyone who missed the original campaign on Twitter and Instagram, we’ve finally put together a compilation of the 12 films — enjoy!

With thanks to our 12 selfie-makers, our 12 talented young writers, and all the schools and students who entered Six Word Story. And congratulations to this year’s winner, Samuel Byrne from Djangoly Academy.
